Product Description

"Page-turner" is the term people frequently use when referring to Julius Kane's new book,
'Ten Things Every Black Man Must Do Before He Dies'. Kane's unique style and social conscience is apparent throughout his work and is exactly what gives the book it's soul. Each sobering chapter offers readers an informative, straight forward look into the current state of Black America. Kane teaches us the must do's while masterfully explaining the must not do's.

African-American women will equally learn, benefit and enjoy knowing their man's mindset, agenda and aspirations, as well as the role she'll play in his future. 'Ten Things Every Black Man Must Do Before He Dies' is bold, funny, cynical and down right honest. Other writers will soon follow suit with their own lists of must do's. In the meantime, hold on tight and take an unflinching look into Julius Kane's mind.

Julius Kane
Julius Kane’s love for words began when he was just eleven years old. He regularly wrote essays, short stories, prose, and poetry. Although he wrote primarily for his own enjoyment, Kane sometimes read his work to family and friends. Kane's mother struggled to keep the inquisitive youth in Christian schools because they seemed better able to cultivate his writing, however the reluctant single mother eventually had to enroll him into the Virginia Public School System. The adjustment was hard, but journalism, advanced composition and writing classes continued to fuel Kane's love of words. He also found excellent teachers who were able to nurture his writing style.

As Young Kane matured so did his verses. He developed a unique style and a social conscience that's become apparent throughout his work. Kane loves to challenge his readers to think outside of the box. In Ten Things Every Black Man Must Do Before He Dies, Kane takes us on an uncompromising journey into the soul of the black community. A place filled with tragedy, beauty, death, pride, and resilience. Kane manages to list his "must do's" while masterfully teaching us the "must not do's."

His work is bold, funny, cynical, and honest. In other words it's Julius Kane at his usual best. As one of the few writers of his generation to just "put it all out there," His work will undoubtedly be debated. Other writers will soon follow suit with their own lists of 'must do's'. In the meantime, hold on tight and take an unflinching look into Julius Kane's mind!

Ten Things Every Black Man Must Do Before He Dies focuses on providing direction, or a blueprint, for the lives of black men.  Distressed by the current failing condition of young black men in America, Kane set out to document necessary lessons that aim to improve the quality of life for what he calls “black America.”  Among other important life lessons addressed, Kane advocates higher standards of living for his readers.  “Ten Things”, is unique in that it not only offers a look into the problems currently facing black America, but it also features practical solutions that readers can immediately implement into their daily lives.
