Sankofa Literary Society is a growing community of unique and talented authors from all genres and disciplines. We provides support to unpublished writers of any genre, as well as to poets around the world. It is SLS mission to encourage and nurture emerging writers in their craft. This is an excellent forum to connect to a wealth of writers, authors and readers. SLS also provides a user friendly place for readers to order books or ebooks, see their favorite author's latest works, and to find out a little about their favorite authors in the biography sections. At Amazyn Hair Design, one of 70 beauty shops along four-mile long Georgia Avenue, Mary Jeffries, center, and Joyce Fowler flip through " The Georgia Avenue Bus," a short fiction about the people on the Avenue, as it often is called. The book was written by Henri Edmonds, pictured on the far left, a professor at Howard University.

She reports the common feelings of joy, despair, and uncertainty of hundreds of thousands of regular bus riders who narrate their common predicaments in the person of a single bus driver along Georgia Avenue. Drawing from the story of the bus driver, the speaker describes the dynamics of what happens when a group of diverse people interact with each other when they are confined in a common space on a regular basis.”
