DISILGOLD: What were your goals in writing this novel?
VENESHA: My goal was to shed light on the life of being a mistress. Many women frown on the subject, but it's very real... trust me I know.
DISILGOLD: Tell us Venesha what inspired you to pick the subject of a mistress becoming a wife?
VENESHA: I took past personal experiences and turned them into a fictional drama. It was a way of healing for me. I got the revenge I always wanted in Mistress Me and it isn't over!
DISILGOLD: Why do you think some women find being the mistress so attractive to men?
VENESHA: I wouldn't say they find it attractive but if the right guy propositions and you wit' it...well it is what it is. The perks do help! Why just be a mistress to the average Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, or Mike when you can have someone with tons of dough. Next to shoes, ballers are a girls favorite accessory-what can I say.
DISILGOLD: Do you think readers will relate to Channing? Why?
VENESHA:Yes, I know readers will relate to Channing. All of us have a little of Channing hidden within but we just don't have the swagger to pull these tricks off. Channing is the Beyonce' of mistresses. She took the opportunity of a life time and who could blame her.
DISILGOLD: Oh my, Beyonce' won't be letting me in anymore B-Day bashes after this.Can one truly forgive and forget?
VENESHA:To be honest-hell 2 the naw!!!!
DISILGOLD: After a 5-year extra marital affair was it realistic for Channing to believe that Alonzo would be faithful to her?
VENESHA:Channing knew that it was only a matter of time before he cheated. That was never her concern. She expected him to. Anybody with Channing's swagger would know this. Channing was very smart just in love.
DISILGOLD: Do you think that the average woman dating the average man would have put up with what Channing tolerated from Alonzo? And--Do you think that because he's an NBA star, this made it bearable for her to stay with a cheating man?
VENESHA: Do I think? Oh, I know they do and they will continue to put up with men like Alonzo. It doesn't matter whether he is in the NBA or not. Some women are afraid to be alone. Now women who are with ballers, oh yeah they put up with it for the perks. They know what's going on-all of them.
DISILGOLD: With so much temptation from fans do you believe that monogamy is an unrealistic goal for high profile couples?
VENESHA: I sure do unless one or both knows God. Men and women are creatures of habit. They will always want more. Only God can truly satisfy a human's soul. That's real talk!!!
DISILGOLD:How connected are you to the subject matter?
VENESHA:I am the subject matter or used to be. I am still healing from past experiences, but I am moving forward. Writing Mistress Me has proven to be very therapeutic.
